Beebe Christian School

Summer Newsletter

May 27, 2014

Dear Parents,

I hope all the students have been enjoying their summer vacation.  We had a good school year, and all of the students worked very hard. I greatly appreciate your dedication and support for Christian education. Here is some information about our fundraising programs for summer as well as other information.

Read-A-Thon (Fundraising forTuition and Registration Fee)

I hope our students have gotten enough sponsors and have started reading books for the Read-A-Thon. Please encourage your child(ren) to read a lot during summer. Reading is very important, and it helps them continue to learn. Please make sure to keep track of the books and pages they  read on the Reading Log attached to this letter in order for them to collect the money at the end of summer. All the students who participate in the Read-a-Thon are required to submit the Reading Log to the school when they come back to school. Most of the students have already submitted the sponsor sheet.

If your child would like to participate but he/she has not submitted the sponsor sheet, it is not too late, so please do it as soon as possible. If he/she adds more sponsors after submitting the sheet, please let me know, so the school can keep track of all the sponsors.

Fundraiser – Bithell Farms Frozen Berries and Fruit

We have been doing this frozen berry and fruit fundraising program for the past eight years. This is the summer order and the deadline is Sunday, June 29. The berries and fruit are from Oregon and are very good products. They will be delivered directly to our school in early August. If you are interested in ordering, please send the order form with a check payable to Beebe Christian School or hand it to me at church on Sabbath, June 28. The order form is available at the church. Please talk to your relatives and friends about it.

Cash Incentive to Parents

We offer a cash incentive to our current parents for introducing a new student to our school. If a new student, whom you introduce to our school, stays at our school for more than six months, we will give you $75 for each new student. In the past a few of our parents have gotten this cash incentive. I am sending the school brochure, so if you know of some children who are looking for a fine Christian education, please give it to them and let them know about our school.

Practice Addition/Subtraction/Times Tables and Spelling during Summer!!!
Summer vacation is a long time. If your child(ren) does not do anything, they will forget much of what they have learned. Besides reading, they need to continue working on their math and spelling skills. If your child(ren) is in the first grade, they need to practice addition and subtraction facts, ten combinations, doubles, and doubles plus one. If your child is a second grader or older, they need to practice the times tables. Also help them practice spelling and reading high frequency words using spellingcity.com during the summer. The vocabulary.com is a good site to use for learning and increasing their vocabulary.

Pre-Registration by Mail (deadline: Sunday, June 15)
If you would like to pre-register your child(ren), please fill out the application form along with a check payable to Beebe Christian School and send them to the school or Sam Peterson, School Treasurer by Sunday, June 15.
  1. If you pay the registration fee by Sunday, June 15, you will get 10% off your registration fee.
  2. If you pay the registration fee and the entire year’s tuition by Sunday, June 15, you will get 10% off the registration fee and entire year’s tuition.
  3. If you pay the registration and the entire year’s tuition in August (before school starts), you will get 5% off the registration fee and entire year’s tuition.

Registration days: Sunday, July 20 and Wednesday, July 23

We have two registration days this summer: Sunday, July 20 (1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) and Wednesday, July 23 (3:00-6:00 p.m.). Please fill in all the paperwork in the Registration Packet and bring them on the registration day.

Work Bee: Sunday, August 10
We have a Work Bee on Sunday, August 10. This will be the first work-bee of this school year. We would like all of you to come to the work-bees to help clean our school. Bring your children, so they can help out to clean their own school. We will clean chairs, desks, cabinets, counters, sinks, walls, doors, windows, light fixtures, the kitchen and the gym. We also need people outside to weed and clean the playground.
Additionally we need to move all the furniture in classrooms (K-4, 5-8 and multipurpose room) into the gym, so our carpet will be cleaned professionally on Monday, August 11. We need someone who can help move back the furniture into the classrooms on Tuesday, August 12 or Wednesday, August 13. So if you can help on these days, please let me know.

Our school is a small private school, so the parents and volunteers are very important to us. Parental help and involvement in school activities create a great family atmosphere and the school gets better because of it. Please bring cleaning and gardening supplies with you and help our school get in shape. If you cannot make it to either of the days above, you can come any day before school starts in August to help out. Please let me know.

School starts on Wednesday, August 20.

Grade Reports

We will mail your child(ren)’s grade report on Tuesday, May 27. Your account must be paid in full in order to receive a grade report from school or release your children’s transcript to other schools.
